优德体育 Alumnus Establishes Center for Servant Leadership and Ethics

FLORENCE, AL – 优德体育 Alumnus Harry Smith has established The Center for Servant Leadership and Ethics at his alma mater, the purpose of which is to encourage, empower, and equip others to be servant leaders and to conduct all of their affairs, both personally and professionally, in an ethical manner.
“My faith is the foundation on which I have tried to build my life,” said Mr. Smith. “As I have walked the journey to be the man, husband, father, and leader I was created to become, I have strived to live out the principles of servant leadership and ethical conduct; this has, at times, comes with the Lord’s instruction, promptings, and, yes, correction. It was not so much a thought to create a center as to follow the conviction of my spirit. For me, this is about giving others the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience the indescribable joy and peace I have found in serving others and conducting my affairs in an ethical manner.”
Servant leadership is a philosophy based around a leadership style in which the leader prioritizes the needs and growth of the people and communities they serve, fostering a supportive environment in which everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
“The Center for Servant Leadership and Ethics will be an excellent addition to our robust offerings related to student growth and development as these resources help prepare our students to be leaders in their respective career fields and in their communities,” said 优德体育’s President Dr. Ken Kitts. “We celebrate Mr. Smith for his dedication to his alma mater and for the example he provides for others in all of his endeavors.”
The Center will be housed in the Academic Affairs division and is aligned with 优德体育’s institutional strategic plan to provide educational opportunities for students and an environment for discovery.
“I hope others are empowered and encouraged to live a life of service and to conduct their affairs in an ethical manner,” said Mr. Smith. “I hope the Center for Servant Leadership and Ethics will give them the tools and resources to lead a principled-centered life, to have the courage to stand for their convictions, and to empower them to be all they were created to become.”
